Mica earned a Doctorate Degree in Clinical Psychology from Long Island University in Brooklyn, NY and holds an Undergraduate degree in Psychology from the University of Connecticut. Among other places, she has worked at the Child Guidance Center of Southern Connecticut, the Acute Care Unit of Saint Mary’s Hospital in Waterbury, CT, North Central Bronx Hospital in NY, and Bronx Children’s Psychiatric Center. Dr. Mica is also a Certified Life Coach, specifically focusing on women’s issues. She has over 10 years of extensive experience working with children, adolescents, and adults, with a wide range of psychiatric disorders in a variety of inpatient, outpatient, partial hospitalization, and community settings. Dr. Mica is experienced in individual, family, and group therapy, using Psychodynamic, Cognitive Behavioral, and Interpersonal approaches. She is also qualified in crisis management, psychological, and neuro-psychological assessments.
Dr. Mica’s Doctoral dissertation investigated the role of affect and experience on risk perception involving motor vehicle accidents. It is this relationship between feelings, perceptions, and behaviors that caught Mica’s academic interest and continues to drive her clinical work. As a DBT clinician and a life coach, Dr. Mica focuses on providing her clients with a safe and non-judgmental space, where they work together to identify feelings, thoughts, beliefs, and assumptions that cause the pain in their lives. While focusing on strengths, clients are encouraged to substitute old ineffective behaviors with new social and self-soothing skills. Accepting that the process of change is frightening and overwhelming, it is her goal to be beside you, every step of the way, as you embark on a journey to create a life worth living.
Dr. Mica is registered as a Psychologist Assistant with the Board of Psychology, and is currently working towards license under the supervision of Dr. Lucks. Dr. Mica and her husband of 20 plus years, are the proud parents of their children (age 17) (age 9). Dr. Mica was born and raised and Israel, and provides clinical services in English and Hebrew.
